Novatek wants to produce blue ammonia, hydrogen at Obskiy GCC

MOSCOW, Jul 28 (PRIME) -- Russian independent gas producer Novatek wants to produce so-called blue ammonia and hydrogen at Obskiy LNG (liquefied natural gas) project renamed into Obskiy GCC (gas chemical complex), the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

“In June 2021, the Group’s subsidiary OOO Obskiy LNG was renamed into OOO Obskiy GCC. The Group is considering construction of a gas-chemical complex there to produce ‘blue’ ammonia, other low-carbon emitting products, and hydrogen near the Sabetta village,” the statement read.

Novatek started pre-front-end engineering design works of the project together with the engineering companies and licensors that have advanced low-carbon technologies to select the most efficient technical solutions for the gas chemical complex and define the key project parameters, the company said.
